World Series 2011 Result: Cardinals Win With 6-2 Win Over Rangers in Game 7

St. Louis Cardinals are celebrating winning the World Series 2011 after a 6-2 win over the Texas Rangers in Game Seven on Oct. 28, 2011.

The victory follows Thursday’s dramatic 10-9 thriller in Game 6, when the Cardinals twice survived being two-down with just one strike to go.

That result seemed to have knocked the stuffing out of the Texas Rangers as they rarely threatened in this deciding encounter. The Cardinals on the other hand were a team transformed; keeping the momentum going from their previous victory to confidently take control of Game Seven.

Chris Carpenter, who emerged following three days of rest, pitched six strong innings, giving away just two first-inning runs and six hits overall for his second win in the series.

By the time Carpenter had given his best the Cardinals already had an unassailable 5-2 advantage that had left the Rangers’ players looking disheartened and resigned to the fact that they had missed their best opportunity just 24 hours before.

The victory gives the Cardinals their 11th World Series title.
