Charlie Sheen Defends Brooke Mueller in Drug, Assault Charges (VIDEO)
Former “Two And A Half Men” star Charlie Sheen has spoken out in defense of his ex-wife Brooke Mueller, saying that she could never commit the drug crimes she was charged with last weekend.
Mueller was accused of planning to sell cocaine and arrested in Aspen, Colo., after police responded to a report by a woman who claimed the actress assaulted her at a bar on Friday, Reuters wrote.
Sheen helped her post bail, and she is currently back in Los Angeles awaiting trial. Attorney Yale Galanter has taken up her case, and is pressing for both the drug and assault charges to be dropped against her.
Mueller’s ex-husband is saying that there is “no way” that there is any truth to the drug charges, and he insists there is no reason at all why she would need to resort to such means. According to TMZ, he pays her $55,000 a month in child support.
The actor questioned the actions and reasoning of the police, and said: “The cops in Aspen are Keystone on their finest day... these are the clowns that let Ted Bundy go.” He shared that he paid $11,000 for her bond, and that she is back home with their two-year-old twin sons.
Furthermore, Mueller’s spokesman shared with Us Weekly that when it becomes clear what exactly happened and the facts of the case come to light, they are confident she will be cleared of all accusations. He added that despite media reports to the contrary, custody of the children would not be taken away from her – and both her ex-husband and his mother are firmly behind her.
Sheen still wants to find a way to have their children spend equal time with them, TMZ revealed, and he spoke about the importance of the family unit: "We're interested in co-parenting... the kids need two parents."
