iPhone 5 Release Date: iPhone 4S Twice as Fast as iPhone 4 in New Video
A video leaked on the internet today which shows the new iPhone 4S in action, and according to its performance, it is twice as fast as the iPhone 4.
Apple announced that the company had received 1 million iPhone 4S pre-orders in just 24 hours and some customers began receiving shipping notifications this morning.
The person in the video seems to have already received their new iPhone 4S, and is testing out some of its new features.
One interesting bit about Siri is that it can be activated by holding down the home button or simply raising the handset to your ear, which 9to5Mac pointed out back in August of this year.
This feature is activated using the iPhone’s proximity sensor along with taps motion sensors for better accuracy.
A user can also choose the language in which they want Siri to operate inside the programs menu.
Some of the featured languages include English, German and French.
According to Apple, Siri will be available in many more languages at a later stage.
The iPhone 4S also proves to be twice as fast as its predecessor.
The smartphone scores 2222.1 milliseconds in the SunSpider benchmark and 89567 in the BrowserMark benchmark.
The significant boost in speed comes as a result of the new handset having an A5 chip which is also used to power the iPad 2.
According to Apple, the A5 chip allows the iPhone 4S two times faster CPU performance and up to seven times faster graphics versus nine times graphics performance on iPad 2.
The difference in graphics speed is due to a lower clock frequency on the iPhone 4S which is probably implemented so the device can conserve battery life.
Siri, the AI driven personal assistant on the iPhone 4S is made possible through the A5 chip.
On previous versions of the iPhone, this type of feature could have never been fully functional since they lacked significant computational requirements.
