Edward Pettifer

The Prince of Wales expressed condolences to the family of 31-year-old Edward Pettifer, a British national who was killed in the New Orleans attack. As the BBC reported Saturday, Pettifer was the stepson of Prince William’s former nanny, Alexandra "Tiggy" Pettifer, née Legge-Bourke.

"Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Pettifer family and all those innocent people who have been tragically impacted by this horrific attack,” Prince William said in response to the young man’s death.

Palace sources reported that the prince’s father, King Charles, felt “deeply saddened” by Pettifer’s death and has been in touch with the victim’s family, according to the BBC.

In a tribute to Pettifer, the victim’s family described him as a "wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend to so many.”
