'Words cannot convey the sorrow': All 14 people killed in New Orleans terrorist attack identified
Martin 'Tiger' Bech
Jack Bech confirmed that his brother, former Princeton University football player Martin "Tiger" Bech, died in the attack in New Orleans. The former Ivy League athlete played football at St. Thomas More Catholic High School before he began playing at Princeton.
“Love you always brother! You inspired me every day. Now you get to be with me in every moment,” Jack Bech wrote about his brother in a post on X. “I got this family T, don’t worry. This is for us.”
Kim Broussard, the athletic director at St. Thomas More Catholic High School, told local news outlet KLFY that Martin Bech died late Wednesday morning at a hospital in New Orleans. The athletic director said that the hospital kept the former athlete on life support until his family could arrive.
The victim played wide receiver, quarterback, punt returner and defensive back at his old high school, according to KLFY. He also earned all-state honors and helped his high school lacrosse team win a state title and make it to three state semifinals.
“I don’t think there’s ever been anybody like Tiger,” Marty Cannon, the principal of St. Thomas More Catholic School, said about the former student.
“I don’t think there’s ever going to be anybody like him because, between the athlete and the depth and the character and just the way he held himself, he was a special guy.”
